Recipes for Self Destruction

As we roll into 2010 how will the future be paved based on our recent past? When I say "our" I'm referring to the humane communities to the very militant of those supporting non-human animal causes of all shapes and sizes. Will we glide into 2010 with growth and expansion of a new more humane treatment of animals or will the structure of things ultimately spiral out of control? If you are not thinking that the latter is a great possibility then you are horribly mistaken.

From 2007 through 2009 we saw a great rise in the new "Humane" communities of our day with ground breaking legislations like California's Prop 2, further free range organic and "humanely raised" death and destruction. As Animal Rights activist fell into welfarism to become Animal Welfarists it becomes no shock to see the ripple effects like a rock in the pond that vegetarians would now start eating "humane" meats.

Where has it gone to and where is the future?

I can tell you for a fact that more and more stories are coming out about "humane" butchers. I even just read a story of a vegetarian that turned into an "ethical butcher" at The Green Grape in Brooklyn NY [1]. It's is now become clearer and clearer what has happened but more importantly what is going to come. I couldn't stress the words harder when I say "We Reap What We Sow". The community has taken a turning point and a back pedal from its direction to fight for something quickly obtainable that would appear to be a noble cause over vegan outreach.

Though this goes far deeper then one Butcher shop and the lose of a few vegetarians. The mark has already been missed as local communities that use to find it trendy to be vegan are now finding it trendy to be the opposite. Yes, it's true they learned nothing from being vegan and vegetarian in the first place then. But whose fault is that? It's the veg communities, as they push for humane meat it is now replacing the past and is becoming the trend over vegan and vegetarianism.

For some, they we're veg and waiting for the day that someone would come down and hand them the excuse and reasons to eat meat again. It worked. The simple minded were sold. At whose expense? The lives of millions of animals that's whose.

Some hipsters, trendsters and alike have now even adopted (their version) of Paleolithic Diets where as upwards of 65% of there diet is entirely meat consumption. While others are being credited as almost rock star status for being a good butcher.[2] This is the newest trend headed our way. If you don't believe me then sit back and watch the castle walls crumble. These topics and trends are all over the web now and growing faster then you can say, “go veg”

Getting back to the rock in the pond

It started somewhere. It had to. It started with those that would put money and easy victories for more money and longevity in front of the "Rights" of animals. Those that would make money by telling everyone what they wanted to hear instead of the original version of telling everyone what they don't want to hear. You see when you play politician and tell people what they do want to hear, they open their wallets and check books instead of their minds. These people once plausible to become veg are now at ease with the practices that are actually the problem and are less inclined to ever even go vegetarian.

The former rise of cage free

Step back 7 or so years when cage free organic eggs became the latest and greatest thing since, well eggs. Everyone jumped up and down how great it was until they started seeing the truth. The egg companies made little change and made twice the profit and increased sales by doing things like cutting a window hole in the sides of sheds that allowed natural sunlight in. As a marketing result studies showed us that more people ate eggs in the end creating more suffering animals, as they were considered more "humane". Now history repeats it's self with meat.

Please remember that all male chicks (50% raised) are thrown in a dumpster or grinder. With this in mind are eggs starting off 50% inhumane and working their way down from there. Is there even such a thing as 50% humane?

If it didn't sell the first time, try new packaging

That's exactly what happens and people again and again fall for the new marketing "Look" of things with the same murder and death involved without the guilt. Really this is a nightmare level catastrophe to the veg community. Even Healthetarians are now feeling it's acceptable to going back to eating meat because it's been "made" organic and healthy. In the end what is really being sold? People and activists are being sold right along with dead animals and human consciousness.

Some people like to think we're getting somewhere with all this "humane" this and "humane" that. I see it as a bigger obstacle then getting people to go veg in the first place. People are finding a new happy medium with dead happy cows from California on their plate far even before Prop 2 has taken effect. People might have been convinced about the "humane" treatment of animals when the foot was stuck in their door and had factory farm footage on commercials. But now that they have been told that what they are doing is okay, well now they won't be convinced otherwise.

The word game

Really it's nothing more then a play on words. Calling a butcher ethical is like calling a vivisector a saint. We can make a fancy graphic to go with (like happy cows from California) it but really the only ethical butcher I can think of is the fictional character named Dexter. When the government tried to crack down and call Animal Rights activists “Terrorists” many people freaked yet when people call murder humane, they also call it lunch. Distorted words have no meaning like dead animals have no life or rights. Lets take a closer look.

Humane [3]
“–adjective
characterized by tenderness, compassion, and sympathy for people and animals, esp. for the suffering or distressed: humane treatment of horses.”

Is tenderness part of slitting an animal's throat and is it compassionate to do so? If they were sympathetic would they continue to murder beings? Do animals not become distressed and suffer before they are systematically murdered? I would.

Synonyms:

1. merciful, kind, kindly, kindhearted, tender, compassionate, gentle, sympathetic; benevolent, benignant, charitable.

Antonyms:
1. brutal.

I think brutal is a better description of what humane slaughter is and if you or a family member were the killed “humanely” would you pick your killing as the synonym or the antonym?

The humane treatment of what?

No really, what does it mean to support “humane”? We talked about ethical butchers and humane meat. So if you support humane murder of animals then do you support the humane murder of human animals? Or how about the humane treatment of abusing children? Only once a week to the hospital and they get ice cream after a good beating. No? How about the human rape of human victims? Never rape them on hard surfaces and no punching. It sounds insane, because it is! Yet people are being told to accept this logic towards someone else simply because they aren't human.

As Tom Regan said “But I am an extremist when it comes to rape — I am against it all the time. I am an extremist when it comes to child abuse — I am against it all the time. I am an extremist when it comes to sexual discrimination, racial discrimination — I am against it all the time. I am an extremist when it comes to abuse to the elderly — I am against it all the time.” [4].

The mass confusion tactic

Why is it when you blur things that people tend to follow? I don't know but it seems to work or they wouldn't do it. We watch as Oprah who has Wayne Pacelle from HSUS on her show and went vegan for 30 days to giving away free KFC afterwards. We watch as PeTA says they are Animal Rights when they kill animals, advocate faster killing methods, and give awards to murderers. And we watch as HSUS has speakers from the meat industry and has full page sponsors from Wolf Gang Puck while giving Awards to people who are responsible to the murder of 10,000's of adoptable animals in Los Angeles. All the hypocrisy, it can blow your mind. What do they all seem to gain from all this? Money.

It should make you wonder why some meat companies are supporting, sponsoring, speaking at their events and even receiving awards for killing animals? [5][6]

Did you sign up for that? Who's being sold here?

"Yes, hi welcome to the veg community. Please check any common sense at the door, along with morals and your checkbook. Please don't mind the butchers in the isles they are ushers here to help you to your seat. Please enjoy our programming ."

Please remain seated until ride has come to a complete stop

Is this what we signed up for? A nightmare ride through hell. If there is such a place. I know I didn't. I opened my eyes to something great and new and I refuse to be tainted by other people's greed. That was the point in the first place. Not to compromise my morals any more. So now that I'm here, I won't be told what I should believe by anyone else. I don't care how off, awkward, strange, militant or passive my views are as long as I know they are MY views. You should do the same.

Don't be sold with the animals you are fighting for.
